The Haruki Danjiri Matsuri is a danjiri festival held in the Haruki district of Kishiwada, Osaka Prefecture, one of the festivals that make up the nationally famous "Kishiwada Danjiri Festival." Held annually from September into October, it carries on Kishiwada's danjiri culture—renowned for its dramatic "yarimawashi"—with the distinctive fervor of the Haruki district.

A danjiri is a wooden float adorned with intricate carvings, weighing around 4 tons. Several hundred pullers haul it by ropes, racing through the town at full speed. The festival's greatest highlight is the "yarimawashi," in which the float makes a sharp right-angle turn at an intersection without losing momentum. The "daikugata," who rides atop the float's roof and dances gracefully there, is the star figure drawing the loudest cheers from the crowd.

The Haruki district's danjiri festival is often held on different dates from the festivals of central Kishiwada, and for local residents it is the greatest event of the year, staking the pride of the community. The danjiri of each neighborhood compete in speed and the skill of their turns, and the entire town surges as one. The danjiri racing along with creaking timber, and the perfectly coordinated teamwork of the men who steer them, symbolize the powerful festival culture rooted in the Senshū region and the solidarity of the local community.
